All kidding aside, remodels are big business from Lake Tahoe to Truckee. From complete tear-downs (like this one), to additions and modifications of existing homes. As the cost of new construction continues to escalate, many homeowners are turning to improving their current home. Owens Construction has seen this trend coming for some time and this is why it can boast nearly two dozen significant home addition or renovations over the past few years. garage to an existing 30 year old redwood sided home in Northstar.

In this project, the owner wanted to transform a rather plain, plywood sided box of a house into more of a mountain cabin. The project was located in the Dollar Point subdvision near Tahoe City. The entire interior was gutted and new space opened up. A porch over an attached garage was added and the entire home, both interior and exterior, was filled with log accents.
One of the most well thought through renovation and addition projects was this one in Tahoe Donner. The original home was a 1800 square foot structure utilizing 3"X8" cedar logs for both interior and exterior walls. The home is now nearly 2800 square feet with a new attached garage and very spacious deck. The owner wanted to achieve as near a seamless transition from old to new as possilbe as is well demonstrated by the pictures below. The owner, herself an experienced interior designer, was meticulous in her approach to detail which resulted in a truly magnificent transformation of this older home.
